Tankless water heaters, also known as demand water heaters, provide hot water only as needed. In contrast, traditional storage water heaters produce hot water whether you need it or not. This produces standby energy losses that cost you money. Think of it this way-- you don’t heat your home while on vacation. In the same way, tankless water heaters don’t produce hot water unless there’s a demand for it.
